The East-West Center announces an opening for a Fellow in the Research
Program. The Fellow will be responsible for managing the NOAA-funded
Climate Adaptation Partnership of the Pacific (Pacific RISA Phase II)
program, which supports climate adaptation through research, assessment,
and outreach. The main aim of the program is to support the integration
of flexible processes for building adaptive capacity to climate
variability and change in diverse island settings, including Hawaii and
the US-Affiliated Pacific Islands. Responsibilities will include
managing the Core Office for Pacific RISA and coordinating the program's
research, assessment, and outreach activities. The Fellow will be
responsible for conducting analytical and policy-relevant research
relating to Pacific Island climate risks. Initial appointment would be
full-time for a period of three years, pending annual renewal of the
funding from NOAA.
Candidates must have a demonstrated capacity in analytical and
policy-relevant research in a related area such as climate science,
environmental science policy, decision science, or social science that
is either complementary to the above areas or expands the scope of the
program. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in a
relevant discipline; and good communication skills in the English
language demonstrating the ability to communicate results and
recommendations in a clear and concise manner to academic as well as
informed policy, public, and private-sector audiences.
